Gary,
The increase in physical violence at Disney is extremely concerning.
People are starting to show stress fractures. A warning sign that the
Magic is fading.
People get on edge when they feel they are being taken advantage of. Add
alcohol, and you have created a volatile environment.
Guest Tackled and Hit as Intense Brawl Breaks Out at Disney World - Inside
the Magic
Thus with great disappointment in Disney's upper management, I need to
cancel my two reservations 23329529 and 23329107.
What precipitated my decision to cancel this family trip is due to the
extreme loss of benefits at Disney resorts and parks combined with the
increase in physical violence at Disney parks.
Over my lifetime, my family and I have invested roughly $100,000 in Disney
via the resorts and parks.
Disney World used to be a magical place where guests could feel that the
value received was greater than the financial cost, but the current
climate at Disney has created an environment that has people physically
fighting.
We as guests are being nickel and dimmed to death, being forced into park
reservation systems, and steered towards the MyDisney app for everything
including the cash cow Genie +.
Before every Disney trip I build a spreadsheet to map out the cost. The
2022 spreadsheet shows such a tremendous price increase combined with such
an extreme loss of benefits, I can no longer justify a Disney vacation.
Typically, I stay at the Contemporary or Animal Kingdom, but the prices
have elevated to a level that All Star Sports is about what I would have
paid for a stay in Garden level room at the Contemporary in 2019.
This drop from deluxe resort to value resort has me losing a tremendous
amount of benefits. This years Disney All Stars Sports room discount is up
to $500. For me to qualify, I must reserve a preferred room because the
standard rooms in the promotion are gone.
So for me to get the $500, I would have to upgrade our rooms, and after
the discount is applied, I would owe you $200 more per room. Disney
forcing me into a room upgrade to get a discount at an increased cost is
not something I will do.
I understand that the pandemic has caused operational difficulties, but
the decay of benefits has been going on for several years before 2020.
This slow erosion is difficult to watch.
The accelerated loss of benefits has the appearance that Disney is trying
to get the customers to pay for the financial losses due to the pandemic.
I am deeply saddened that I will miss the 50th anniversary, but I am not
willing to support Disney's upper management in there seemingly
intentional destruction of Disney's magic.
My grand children are very disappointed that we would not be able to have
lunch at the Beast's Castle. The overly priced meal is too eclectic for
our tastes, and for this same reason we will not visit Space 220 or my
most favorite go to on each trip California Grille.
The exorbitant price increases cater to the rich and have me thinking that
I will never be able to afford to visit a Disney park again. My
Disney bubble has burst.
In 2024, I will look at Disney again, but the current trends of more money
with less benefits. Tron and Guardians will not be enough to bring me
back. Universal is poised to dethrone Disney.
What brings me to you:
I wanted to make sure that someone in Disney management was made aware
that Disney is losing a devoted Disney family.
Also, I have a memory maker that will be in limbo unless a manager
approves the refund. I paid for it years ago, but never had to use it
because on my last two family trips a memory maker was compensation for
reservation issues.
Will you can credit my account for the memory maker?
Thank you,
David Lynch
